Part of the Houston Independent School District, Alcott Elementary School is home to a diverse student body with many ESL students.
In partnership with Scholastic Book Fairs, a group of ESL students at Alcott Elementary were provided exclusive access to The Text Hub platform.
*Study group included a total of 24 ELL (English Language Learners) students, however only students who completed 10 or more reading passages on the platform were considered statistically relevant. Students in the study were required to use the platform in class twice a week for one to two months.
Students who read 10 or more passages saw an average increase of 2 reading levels in under 45 minutes on the platform.
At Alcott Elementary, 83% of ESL students saw an improvement in their English reading skills by at least 1 level.
